Be sure to check out the Resources for Creative Teaching Newsletter page for books, DVDs, videos and other resources available through the Northern Area Office of Evangelization and Catechesis of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.  The first issue for 2011-2012 is posted and gives suggested resources available explaining the upcoming changes in the Roman Missal.  Other topics covered will be Mary, Apologetics, Saints, Prayer, Parables, Lent, Penance and Eucharist.  The new resource page is posted the first week of each month August – April.

HELP PARISHIONERS AND FAMILIES DIP INTO THE BIBLE DURING LENT

The Center for Ministry Development has simple articles for Bible exploration during Lent.  Free downloads of one paragraph articles on the readings from Ash Wednesday through the Easter Vigil  are an easy way for parishioners and families to reflect on the scriptures.  Click on “Listen Up!  Lent 2011” at www.fashioningfaith.org.

Ashes to Glory – DV 410

Ashes to Glory provides 47 short reflections for each day of Lent to prepare the viewer for Easter.  Each day contains a brief devotion (2-3 minutes) that reflects on a treasured song, poem, tradition, Scripture, character of the Passion story, or work of art that enhances the meaning of the season.  Some of the topics include: Ash Wednesday, When does Lent begin, When is Easter, The Praying Hands, The Pilgrim’s Progress, Footwashing, The Paschal candle, Pieta, Nicodemus, The Ascension, Pontius Pilate, Barabbas, Judas Iscariot, Doubting Thomas, Gethsemane, Maunday Thursday and Holy Saturday.
